Ombre Challenge – MFT Camp Create

My Favorite Things has begun their Camp Create for 2017.  For their “bonfire challenge”. the task is to create a card using the obre technique.  Below I have created my take on an ombre card for this challenge.

My card starts on a piece of SU vanilla cardstock.  I stamped and embossed the background image with the Simon Says Stamp (SSS) Flora background stamp.  I have embossed using the SSS gold powder.  I selected various blue inks from Stampin Up (SU) to create my ombre:  bashful blue, marina mist, baja breeze, pacific point, not quite navy, and night of navy.  Using a blender tool and staring at one end of the image, I blended the blues from the lightest to the darkest making sure each color smoothly transitioned to the next.  I then took a piece of deep gold colored paper (which measured 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) and trimmed the background down to 4″ x 5 1/2″ and mounted these together.  Lastly I needed my sentiment.  As this was a My Favorite Things (MFT) challenge, I used the YOU die-namic die and the “ARE FANTASTIC” from the All About You stamp set (both from MFT).  To create the YOU, I positoned some score tape to the back of some cardstock and removed the adhesive.  I placed Nuvo guilding flakes (copper) on the score tape until it was completely covered. then I ran the copper cardstock with the YOU die through my Big Shot.  The ‘ARE FANTASTIC” was embossed with bronze on some vellum.  I adhered the YOU on top of the velum sentiment and then adhered directly to the background.  The last thing was mounting the completed project on to white folded cardstock.

I’m very pleased with the final output.  What I love most was, I just created this with no plan in mind, it just surfaced step after step.  I hope you like my card and that my directions are sufficient enough that you could recreate this card.
