Bitty Bears and YOU

My Favorite Things has this adorable bear stamp set call BB Bitty Bears.  A friend stamped and shared the bear images with me.  In my mind, I had not figured out how I wanted to use them, but then My Favorite Things presented its Weekly Sketch Challenge #365 (shown below).  Whenever I do a challenge, I try to use that companies products (if I have some) and thankfully I did.

My card for this challenge started, as a prestamped piece of white cardstock.  Happenstance, the images were stamped in the configuration for the challenge, so I went with it.  I had been wanting to play with my new Altenew alcohol markers (set A) and now was my chance.  The colors in this set are shades of blue, green and pink with one black marker.  My color choices were a bit limited for coloring up bears, but I had fun with it.  My bears have pink cast shadows and green form shadows.  They still look cute.  The dark, medium and light ink shades performed well on the accessories the bears were holding.  So, I colored in the bears and their shading.

I wanted to accent the idea of squares, so I die used a 1″ x 1″ square die and cut out many 1″ x 1″ squares.  I glued 4 squares together to make a little stack.  I then placed these squares on top of OR under the bear and held it in place with some low tack tape.  Using my die machine and the rubber mat I fed the card through with the squares being held in tact.  This created  raised and lowered square areas. The exact effect I was looking for.  If I were to do it again though, I would have to tack the squares down better as one shifted.

To wrap up the card, I used a piece of Lawn Fawn rainbow plaid paper for the background (A2), trimmed my bears down to fit nicely over the background.  I did pop up the bear cardstock to give some dimension to the finished card.  My sentiment is from My Favorite Things, All About You stamp set and it is stamped in black ink.  I cut the sentiment as closely/narrowly as I could then layered it on the same background cardstock, fishtailed the ends and attached.  Take a peek below.

On a side note, the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge is “Anything Goes” and they are featuring Lawn Fawn product.  I am going to submit this card to this challenge as well.
