Power & Spark Challenge – Jan 2018

Power Poppy has teamed up with Pagemaps.com for this months challenge.  I was not familiar with pagemaps.com so I checked out their site.  If you are needing a card design or inspiration, this is a great place to go.  This month they have 10 card sketches (aka maps) to be inspired by.  The Power Poppy design team has a card created for each of the 10 different maps!  They are all so lovely.  Be sure to check them out!

I selected a card map I wanted to use and was stumped.  It took me a bit of time before I finally had a plan.  I decided to use as many stamps in the Power Poppy Sweet Memories stamp set as I could.  I love it when stamps sets are versatile enough that you can many of the images in the set when creating.  I created the main background stamping green stripes onto white cardstock.  I made two banners by stamping one with the various sweet pea flower images and the other using the vines and peas onto white cardstock.  Since these were going to be background banners, I quickly water colored them without adding too much detail.  For the focal point, I selected one of sweet peas and stamped it in the center of my chain circle die (from My Favorite Things Stamps) and water colored the image as well.  I had some hearts from my stash, and I stamped the Miss and You into them to imitate sweet heart’s (like the candy).  Lastly, I die cut the hello and layered it with additional hello die cuts for dimension.  I really enjoyed this challenge!  Without a doubt, I’ll be visiting pagemaps.com again and I truly LOVE Marcella’s floral images and am always checking out their product.  Their design team is really inspirational as well!

On to my card.. Here it is:
