Yesterday my local craft store was open and I happen to be in town, and well, you can’t pass up a stop at the only craft store in town, right? It was fun to browse around and to find out she has a lot of items on order from the recent convention. That will be fun to see the next time our paths cross. Meanwhile, I picked up the My Favorite Things, You Gnome Me stamp set. Those gnomes are so fun; I had to use them right away. SO, if you know me by now, I found a few challenges I can use these cute guys for.
- My Favorite Things Color Challenge 86.
- Wednesday Sketch Challenge 370
- The Birthday Project – Celebrate Good Times
- Simon Says Stamp – Wed Challenge – Anything Goes
Below is my card using this fun new stamp set. To make my card: I started by die cutting an A2 panel with a heart shape. I don’t have any heart dies, except the recent one from the Hero Arts January card kit which doesn’t make a complete heart, so I simply cut where I needed to, to make a heart shape. Next, I folded a 4.25″ x 11″ cardstock in half to make my card. I placed the heart panel over the card and lightly traced where the heart would be. On the main card, I proceeded to stamp just the flowers from the Gnome set (the stamp is a boot with flowers blooming out of it). Of course, I had to mask so I could get multiple images all within the heart shape. I also masked off where I was going to place my “YOU”, so I didn’t accidentally fill that area in. Next, using the My Favorite Things Color Challenge colors, I colored in the flowers (within the heart). I colored in my gnome and stamped out my sentiment “DESERVE TO BE CELEBRATED” which meets the criteria for The Birthday Project (‘Celebrate’). I used the My Favorite Things, rectangle word frame in white and green to complete the layering of the sentiment. To wrap up my card I popped up the heart frame (which was die cut with the My Favorite Things rectangle STAX) and placed it centered on my card with the beautiful flowers showing through the heart. I put some foam tape behind part of the gnome and placed him within the heart and the sentiment under him, as though he is standing on it. And, lastly, I had to add some Wink of Stella sparkle on some of the flowers. I had fun creating this card..and I love the companies that have these challenges are they are fun to create for.
