Sail Away – with me

Today I am showcasing a card I created using the Simon Says Stamp Sailing stamp set.  I have been working on creating clean and simple cards that really highlight the focal point.  To create the card below, I masked off the top and bottom portions of an A2 card panel.  Using a wave stencil from the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero kit, I ink blended Broken China, Salty Ocean and Faded Jeans through the stencil; after each color I moved the stencil to a new area.  When done, I took advantage of the water effect by spritzing the colors with water.  To used my heat tool to make sure the area was completely dry so that I could emboss my sentiment.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set.  I first stamped with black ink, then embossed with WOW holographic embossing powder.  This was definitely a WOW.  I love the shimmer this gives the sentiment over the water.  On separate cardstock, I stamped a few of the boat images from the stamp set and experimented with different color combinations.  I attached the boat using foam tape to highlight the focal point and make it pop. Lastly, I trimmed the card panel slightly and foam mounted it on a top folding card.  I love how this looks completed.  Clean and simple cards are their own technique for sure. I hope you like my card.

I will be entering this in the following challenges:
