Fly Agaric ?? Huh?

Right!  Well, first this is a mushroom and it is one of the mushrooms included in the fabulous Power Poppy Creative and Curious collection. It is a stamp set called Wild Mushrooms. It has 8 very nice sized and very realistic mushrooms with their common name and binomial name.  I’ve never seen such fabulous mushroom stamps before.  Truly awesome.  You can check them out here. Meanwhile, I just can’t stop coloring these mushrooms.  And, honestly, Power Poppy has some very amazing floral images too, and, I still gravitate to these mushrooms!

Today, I’m presenting a card I created using the Fly Agaric mushroom image.  Of course, I had to do some research and learn about this mushroom.  I learned that while it is a poisonous mushroom, if parboiled the toxins are reduced and they can be eaten.  I also learned that these can have hallucinogenic properties.  So, with that in mind, I created this card.

I used some black card stock, a stencil and distress oxide inks to make this crazy psychedelic background. I used a blue prints die set to create the background panel.  I foam mounted the top and bottom portions of the panel and kept the center flat.  After coloring up my Fly Agaric mushroom, I fussy cut it out and foam mounted it in the center flat area.  To tie the red of the mushroom with the card, I added the sentiment on red cardstock with the black embossing.  So, now we will both/all remember, that these mushrooms can be edible, and hmm.. they could cause interesting reactions :)..  This is a learning mushroom stamp set too!

I’ll be submitting this card to the following challenges:
