Dynamic Dies with Lydia AECP

Today I have some fun cards to share.  I learned some new techniques from the Altenew Dynamic Die Cutting course instructed by Lydia Evans.  Really a fun course with six lessons to enhance the ways you use and think of your dies.  This course is part of my Altenew Educator Certificate Program, Level 3 (my fifth lesson).

My personal challenge  was to  experiment with lesson 2, Peek Through Die Cut window.  This was a great and unique way to use your dies.  I started by creating a stack of cardboard circles.  These circles would replace a cutting pad on my die cutting machine.  Using my A2 card panel, I placed my Altenew Medallions Cover die A over my die cut and taped the cardboard circles over the area of the die cut I wanted to cut out.  I ran this through my die cut.  It took a few tries to get the number of circles/height I needed correct, but wow, this was pretty cool.  I partially die cut my cover die!  I then took a cutting blade and trimmed around the circle area to remove any uncut areas and to give the finished look I wanted.  I stamped my sentiment on this, panel A (from: the Altenew Be Strong set)Altenew   I then die cut the full Altenew Medallions Cover die B.  I placed the B panel under the A panel and trimmed away any excess card panel so I would just have the area I wanted.  Using my Altenew Artist Markers, I used shades of purple over the B panel, and I used the purple along the edges of my final card.  I placed panel B on the final card, and foam mounted panel A over panel B.  I love the dimension on the final card and what a great way to extend using your dies!

I created another card from lesson 5: Stamp and Die Cut Background.  I used my Altenew Wild About You stamp set and layered yellow and pink flowers onto my card panel.  Using the techniques we learned in class, I lined up my Inline Alpha dies to spell ‘WILD’.  I placed these in the middle of my panel and cut them out.  I used bright (wild) paper under the die cut letter to make them pop.  To add some additional interest, I used a piece of glitter paper under one of the letters (‘i’) and used that same glitter on part of my sentiment ‘fabulous’.  The panel is then foam mounted onto a bright (and wild) green panel which is then mounted to my final card.  I added a fussy cut bee above the wild to create “B Wild and Fabulous’.  Another great technique from this class.  So many wonderful ideas in these lessons on ways to stretch your dies.

Have a gander at my images below. I hope you like and might be inspired to go create yourself!
