CAS Chinese Lantern Card

Hello.. I received my September My Monthly Hero kit from Hero Arts.  The theme is Autumn. I love Physalis alkekengi (aka Chinese Lantern flowers) and there are a few images of them.  I’ve included a photo below of the kit contents.  When I ordered the kit, I also purchased a stencil.  Stencils are such a good investment: they are relatively inexpensive and you can do SO much with them.

Today’s card I’m sharing with you is a one layer card.  I die cut a shape from masking paper and placed it over my A2 card, so the shape is the exposed part.  I stamped with black ink my Chinese Lanterns then masked over them. I think ink blended the shape area with shades of yellow.  I removed all the masks and using my Prismacolor pencils colored in the Chinese Lanterns.  My sentiment was then stamped with a brown ink to tie in the Autumn theme.

I love how this turned out and that it is a CAS (Clean & Simple, one layer) card.  I love this technique and was inspired by Kelly Latevola.  Her blog page is here.  She does amazing CAS cards!
