My good friend, April of Oakwilde Designs who does awesome You Tube Videos, and I decided to challenge each other to a challenge. We agreed to join in the Lawn Fawn current challenge #38, Awesome Autumn. As I was looking through my Lawn Fawn collection, I saw this stamp set and thought, oh, I could multi-purpose this set! I was excited with my idea; could I really do it? Let’s see.
So, the stamp set is called Chit-Chat. It is many images of word bubbles. I stamped each out onto masking paper and cut it out. I arranged them onto a card and the whole plan was visible. I took out my stamp positioner tool and working front to back, stamped each of the word bubbles, upside down and with only inking the outline not the words inside the bubble. I also omitted stamping the arrow of the speech bubble. Below is what I had, and yes, I was intimidated, could I really do this?
I started by using a pencil and sketching/drawing in the pumpkin details so I would have something to work with – what a big help. I colored in all the bubbles/pumpkins first, then went back and colored in the stems, which I hand drew. In thinking what to use for a sentiment, I thought, the word bubble with “Thinking of You” as we are always thinking of those we can’t be with at the holidays. I stamped this with green ink in the upper right. Using a ruler and black marker, I drew a left and bottom grounding line and finished the coloring by incorporating shadows around the images.
Finally, I foam mounted the card design onto kraft cardstock and it was now complete. I did it! I really did! I created pumpkins (or gourds) out of speech bubbles! Here – take a look..
I hope you like my card and perhaps this will help us to look at our stamps in different ways. This was so much fun to create.
I’ll be entering this into the following challenges:
